The use of information as an asset is fast becoming an essential business strategy. Core knowledge in management, finance and accounting is critical, but recent technological advances are challenging leaders to add a new skill set to their teams—the ability to capture data, organize it, analyze it and use it to make better business decisions in the context of specific functional areas. The MSBA degree is designed to teach these critical skills and develop professional business analysts prepared to assist organizations in developing and sustaining a unique competitive advantage.

Additionally, VSB offers a Center for Business Analytics to prepare graduates to become analytics leaders in their organizations.

No. The MSBA degree will be offered entirely online through a combination of synchronous and asynchronous class sessions. Small classes will allow faculty to individually support each student and help foster personal connections among peers.

The MSBA program is designed to provide flexibility to busy working professionals while letting students stay fully engaged with faculty and their classmates. Courses are primarily delivered in an asynchronous environment using a combination of tools such as recorded presentations, discussion forums and interactive case studies to let students learn according to their own schedule. However, select synchronous elements, including online discussion sessions (all recorded so you can watch them on your own schedule) and virtual office hours, are also incorporated into each course.

All students are required to have a Windows PC with Excel 2010 or later. Throughout the program, faculty members will employ a variety of different software packages, some of which do not work on a Mac. To avoid issues with conflicting security requirements and administrative settings, it is also highly recommended that students do not use a work computer.
