Deborah J. Tyksinski, PhD, dean of the College of Professional Studies (CPS) at Villanova University, was awarded with the Emeritus Honor by the Continuing Education Association of New York (CEANY).

CEANY dedicates itself to the promotion and support of quality programs of public continuing higher education in the State of New York. In addition, the Association advocates for the adult learner and encourages the professional development of its members. The Emeritus Honor, the highest honor CEANY bestows, is awarded to those individuals that have an extensive history and excellent track record of commitment to the organization and has made a lasting impression on their institution and Continuing Education, as a whole. CEANY recognizes Dean Tyksinski’s more than 20 years of robust experience in the academic arena, supporting and driving university strategic goals.

On June 1, Villanova University appointed Deborah Tyksinski, PhD, founding dean of the College of Professional Studies, which offers academically rigorous undergraduate degree and non-degree programs – both on campus and online. Under the Dean’s leadership, CPS will continue to innovate with new curricula and programs.

Prior to Dean Tyksinski’s appointment at Villanova, she was associate provost at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, where she lead college-wide efforts supporting online degree programs, institutional assessment, faculty and student engagement, research and scholarship and the attraction of new resources to achieve strategic goals. While at SUNY Polytechnic, the Dean conceived and built their continuing professional education program. Additionally, Dean Tyksinski held leadership positions at Syracuse University where she helped establish a computing-research center.
