A Message from the President

Dear Members of the Villanova Community,

It’s wonderful to have you back and to once again see campus brimming with activity. I am grateful that our high vaccination rate—95% among the entire community—has allowed us to return to a more typical semester.

However, in looking at our recent COVID-positive cases, our numbers are higher than I would like to see. Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, I am implementing enhanced mitigation efforts effective immediately to slow this trend.

  • All community members, regardless of vaccination status, are asked to wear masks when inside classrooms and/or any campus buildings that are open to the public. Masks are not needed when eating or drinking; when alone in an office or private space; or when outdoors. (Students do not have to wear masks in their residence halls—though that may also change).
  • Our surveillance testing will now include a randomized sample of community members, regardless of vaccination status. This expanded testing will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 8, and will continue throughout the Fall semester.

We will continue to monitor our positive cases and assess our next steps after Family Weekend.

As always, thank you for your cooperation and for helping to keep our community healthy and safe. For the most up-to-date information, please visit our Return to Campus webpage.

Sincerely,
