Dr. Moeness Amin, director of the Center for Advanced Communications (CAC) at Villanova University College of Engineering, will serve as a partner investigator on a recently awarded $450,000 five-year grant from the Australian Research Council (ARC). Titled “Enhanced Through-Wall Imaging using Bayesian Compressive Sensing,” the project focuses on applying emerging signal processing techniques to improve target detection and localization in through the wall radar imaging for security and defense applications. The award supports the collaboration and exchange of researchers and PhD students at Villanova and the University of Wollongong, Wollongong, Australia.

In 2013, the two universities concluded a five-year $500,000 ARC-funded project, which produced numerous publications and greatly benefited research on radar imaging at both campuses. That same year, Villanova and the University of Wollongong signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

With its expertise in radar and in the broad area of signal processing, the CAC is a sought after collaborator for many international educational institutions. In the past decade, more than 80 papers have been co-authored by CAC faculty and researchers from seven countries.
