Dr. Moeness Amin Publishes 500th Paper as Villanova Faculty Member
Just a few weeks into 2012, Dr. Moeness Amin, Director of the Center for Advanced Communications, reached a significant professional milestone—publication of his 500th paper, all written during his 27-year tenure within the College of Engineering. His publications have been cited 4,000 times.
“This milestone demonstrates that well-recognized research is possible and supported at Villanova. I’m also grateful for the successful collaborations I have had with students, postdoctoral fellows, research professors, and colleagues from within the Villanova community and throughout the world that have contributed to this work,” says Dr. Amin, an internationally renowned expert on traditional and emerging signal processing techniques.
Of these 500 papers, 130 have been published in 15 different journals, while the remainder has appeared in proceedings of conferences, symposia, and workshops. Dr. Amin has published papers with 50 different co-authors.
In addition to published works, a new citation measure called the H-Index has emerged as a tool that many academic institutions worldwide have begun incorporating into considerations for tenure, promotion, and awards. This index measures the strength and continuity of a faculty member’s research over the years. Dr. Amin has published steadily for 25 years, with an H-Index of 32 (meaning 32 of his papers have been cited at least 32 times).
