PLACEMENTS

Villanova Law has relationships with more than 50 businesses, organizations and government entities in the greater Philadelphia-area, allowing for recurrent externship opportunities in a broad array of practice areas. Alternatively, if you find an externship that better suits your individual career goals, then you are encouraged to seek an independent placement.

Below you will find examples regarding these semester-long recurrent and independent externship placements. Judicial Externships and Summer Externships are also available.

Previous students established independent placements at a variety of law offices including law firms, government agencies, company legal departments, non-profit and public interest organizations, professional sports teams and sports agencies, and college legal counsel’s offices, to name a few.

Matthew McGovern
Director of Experiential Learning

“When I first began conducting intake interviews as a Legal Service Coordinator during my externship with Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, I struggled to identify specific issues. I asked the Director to conduct an interview so I could see how a professional would handle the issues and get all relevant information. By the end of the semester, my interviewing skills impressed the Director and I was much more confident talking to new clients.”
