Real Estate Trends: Gentrification in Philadelphia

The VSB Daniel M. DiLella Center for Real Estate invites you to join our virtual ZOOM panel in a conversation on gentrification in the city of Philadelphia. This all female panel will be followed by breakout room discussions. This event is open to all Villanova students.

Villanova Real Estate Field Experiences

The Villanova Real Estate Field Experience will connect students with Villanova alumni working in real estate. The professionals will provide the opportunity and framework required to teach the student about his/her corner of the industry.  Each student will be expected to produce a deliverable appropriate to their respective real estate knowledge levels – ex, an OM, proforma, market analysis, etc. The final project should be something that could be shared with potential employers as a “portfolio” project. Students will also gain exposure to a day in the life of a real estate professional, providing insight into this industry.  Students will be expected to spend 5-10 hours per week applying new skills as they are learned

During the fall 2021 Real Estate Field Experience, diverse students will learn about the commercial real estate industry from mentors at PGIM (Prudential Global Investment Management) and JLL (Jones Lang LaSalle) – two of the largest real estate firms worldwide.

Who should participate?
The Real Estate DE&I Field Experience will benefit diverse* first years, sophomores and juniors from all majors that may consider commercial real estate investment as a career or as a supplement to their career and also students with a desire build what matters through thoughtful real estate investment and development. Students will learn about some of the many business and non-business career paths available within real estate; will learn techniques that can be utilized when considering investment opportunities including components of the investment process; and will also touch upon considerations of commercial development which may include including zoning, gentrification, housing affordability and density. Finally, students will have time to meet with HR representatives.

Sessions will take place in Bartley Hall with some speakers live and some via zoom. Program will also include an in-person project tour local to Philadelphia.
