Erin Winterhalter, Director, COPE

Erin Winterhalter

Erin Winterhalter MPH, RDN, LDN, CDE serves as Director of the MacDonald Center for Obesity Prevention and Education (COPE) at the Villanova University College of Nursing. As a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, Erin lends her clinical expertise to the Center and provides leadership to develop innovative programs and practical strategies to help combat the obesity epidemic.

A published author and nationally recognized speaker, Erin has presented at many local and national professional conferences including the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Diabetes Care and Education Symposium as well as the Pediatric Endocrine Nursing Society Conference.

Erin earned her BS in Dietetics from the University of Delaware and her Master of Public Health degree from Thomas Jefferson University.

Rebecca Shenkman, Program Manager, COPE

Rebecca Shenkman

Rebecca Shenkman, MPH, RDN, LDN serves as Program Manager for the MacDonald Center for Obesity Prevention and Education. Rebecca has clinical, community and research experience in the field of nutrition providing the Center with a broad perspective on obesity management and research.  She is a published author on behavioral treatments of obesity which guided her career focus of translating nutritional science into practical advice for patients and clients to improve their quality of life. 

Rebecca earned her BA in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania  and her Master of Public Health degree from New York University.

Lynore DeSilets, Assistant Dean and Director, Continuing Education

Lyn DeSilets

Lyn DeSilets, EdD, RN-BC leads the Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) program in the College of Nursing. Dr. DeSilets also oversees the educational activities of COPE and enhances the programs provided for healthcare professionals with her knowledge and expertise.  Dr. DeSilets is a member of the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC-COA).  Prior to this appointment she had served as an appraiser for ANCC's Commission on Accreditation for 20 years. She is an associate editor for the Journal of Continuing Education in Nursing.  Dr. DeSilets previously chaired the Content Expert Panel for the ANCC certification exam in Nursing Professional Development and has served on the Board for Certification for ANCC.
