Villanova University President the Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, has been named the recipient of the 2025 Globy Award for Lifetime Achievement by the Global Philadelphia Association. The award will be presented at the 10th Annual Globy Awards celebration, which recognizes distinguished Philadelphians whose work has made a lasting impact across the region and beyond.
Bridgette M. Rice, PhD, MDiv, APRN, FAAN, Associate Dean for Research and Innovation and the Richard and Marianne Kreider Endowed Professor in Nursing for Vulnerable Populations at Villanova University’s M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing (FCN), has been awarded a $798,000 R25 Education Project grant from the National Institute for Nursing Research (NINR) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Villanova astrophysicist Joey Neilsen, PhD, played a prominent role in a global study using the new XRISM space telescope that uncovered an unexpected phenomenon around a neutron star system known as GX13+1. Instead of observing its usual, predictable behavior, researchers detected a surprisingly slow cosmic wind—an unusual finding that offers new insight into how matter builds up around neutron stars in binary systems.
