Thinking about returning to the workforce? Have you kept your license active but haven’t practiced in over a year? Villanova has developed a 4-part program to ease your reentry into nursing. Begin with the Medical/Surgical Update and Review Course-a didactic review of body systems and practice issues. Then refresh your knowledge of medications and metabolic pathyways in the Basic Pharmacology Review and Update Course. Then continue with the Skills Update Workshop in our state of the art Simulation Lab where you will have hands on experience with the latest in skills review such as: foley catheter insertion/central line dressings/peg tubes/ wound care and various pumps. Finish the certificate with Geriatric Physical Assessment Course, which will review basic assessment techniques and include components that relate specifically to geriatric populations. Upon completion of these four programs you will receive a RN Refresher Certificate. You can earn a sufficient number of contact hours to meet your PA mandatory relicensure continuing education requirements for a 2 yr period.

Physical Assessment of the Geriatric Patient
Expand your physical assessment knowledge and skills by focusing on a holistic assessment of the adult and geriatric client. Pathophysiological processes, clinical manifestations of normal age changes and common disorders will by systematically reviewed. Related assessment techniques and current screening tools will be identified. Emphasis will be on the identification of significant findings with the elderly population. You will have an opportunity for "hands-on" practice using diagnostic equipment and screening tools in a state-of-the-art simulation lab.

Skills Update and Review
Gain clinical experiences in a state-of-the-art simulation environment - without the anxiety and stress of providing patient care. Obtain hands-on experience with the latest equipment and techniques. Review skills related to: IV's, PCAs, pumps, chest tubes, Foley catheters, dressings/wound care, suctioning, trach care, enteral feedings, tube care, and medication dispensing. Performance checklists will be provided to increase your competency.
