Villanova University College of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation.

(CNE), Villanova University College of Nursing awards contact hours (an acceptable counterpart for CEUs) for eligible nursing education activities. In CNE, the contact hour is the only appropriate unit of educational credit offered by providers that are accredited by ANCC. The contact hour is considered the gold standard for CNE. One CEU equals 10 contact hours of participation in organized continuing education under responsible, qualified direction and instruction.

In September 2007 we were reaccreditated for a full six years - until August 2013.

This voluntary process certifies that the program has been evaluated by professionals, that it meets or exceeds established standards and is achieving its own goals. Villanova University College of Nursing chose to apply for accreditation and complies with national standards established by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Requirements for Completion

Villanova University will award contact hours for successful completion of all continuing education activities. In keeping with ANCC revised guidelines, a contact hour is a measurement that denotes 60 minutes of organized learning.

In order to receive continuing education credit, participants must complete all course requirements including program evaluations and attend at least 85% of live activities.

For online / journal activities, participants are required to read the article/s, complete a posttest and an evaluation form.

For conferences, individuals can participate in some or alll of the program.  Participants are asked for a signed attestation statement on the conference evaluation form as to the sessions attended.

For webinars, participants must attend the full (one hour) session and complete the evaluaion form.

Disclosures

Conflicts of Interest - All continuing education activities will be free from bias. Learners will be informed of any influencing financial, personal or professional relationships or lack thereof for all planners and presenters and/or their family members. Villanova University College of Nursing has procedures in place to resolve conflicts as appropriate. Any commercial support or sponsorship for educational activities will be disclosed to learners. Standards for Disclosures and Commercial support in ANCC Accreditation Application manual 2013 will be followed.

Non-endorsement - Accredited status does not imply endorsement by Villanova University or ANCC of any commercial products displayed or used with an activity.

Commercial Support - Information related to any commercial support or sponsorship that is received for continuing education activities will be provided in the appropriate course / conference materials.

Confirmation

A confirmation email will be sent one week prior to the course. Location, travel directions and parking instructions will be included.

Cancellations

Villanova reserves the right to cancel any course when enrollment quotas have not been met. In such cases all fees are refunded. An applicant who withdraws from a course prior to the first class may receive a refund of fees minus a $25 processing fee, unless otherwise noted in promotional materials.  No refunds are given after a course is in progress. In rare instances, Villanova reserves the right to substitute faculty.

Tax Credit

Continuing education course work, undergraduate courses or graduate courses may be eligible for a LIFELONG LEARNING CREDIT. This credit applies to tuition and fees, with a maximum of $2000 total credit each year.  For further information, consult you tax advisor or call the Internal Revenue Service at 800-829-1040.
