Nurse Practitioner Student Stephanie Lyons Selected for Nightingale Scholarship
Fitzpatrick College of Nursing adult-gerontology nurse practitioner (NP) student Stephanie Lyons, BSN, RN, PCCN, of West Chester, Pa. has been selected in a competitive process for the Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania Advanced Degree - Masters Scholarship.
“I am so honored to receive this scholarship. It is a wonderful feeling knowing my persistence and dedication to nursing has been acknowledged with this award. I am very grateful,” Lyons notes, adding, “As an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, I hope to make an impact in the outpatient setting and help manage chronic illness as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle, including diet, exercise and the importance of mental and physical health. Diet and exercise have made such a positive impact in my life, and I am excited to promote these avenues of healthy living while also managing necessary medications and primary care in the outpatient setting."
The Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania (NAP) is a statewide, non-profit organization, focused on recognizing exemplary nursing practice, and granting scholarships to students pursuing degrees in nursing at all levels, according to its website.
“Stephanie is a tremendous asset to the Villanova’s Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner Track, and we know she will be a strong asset to the profession upon graduation. We look forward to having her in our 2023-2024 clinical year,” says Clinical Assistant Professor Jennifer Mondillo, PhD, MSN, MBA, CRNP who coordinates the AGNP track.
In addition to being a graduate student, Lyons has been a full-time nurse at Main Line Health Bryn Mawr Hospital’s Telemetry/Step-Down Unit for the last six years. She is also a member of the Infection Prevention team and is Reiki certified. At FCN, she serves as a tuition scholar in the Simulation and Learning Resource Center.
Lyons will be honored on October 28 during the 33rd annual Awards Gala in Harrisburg.
