The Accounting & Information Systems Department at VSB is nationally recognized for its rigorous accounting programs, which top recruiters consistently claim to produce some of the most highly desirable job candidates available. Over the past five years, nearly 100 percent of graduating seniors in the accounting program had secured jobs before their graduation date.

Thought Leadership

VSB Accounting & Information Systems faculty value both teaching and scholarship. Many have experience as an accounting or systems professional prior to earning their doctorate degree. As a result, they bring a balance of scholarly research and real-world knowledge into the classroom. Our faculty publish in prestigious accounting journals including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Contemporary Accounting Research, Accounting Organizations and Societies, Research in Accounting Studies, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, Accounting Horizons, Journal of The American Taxation Association, Behavioral Research in Accounting and Issues in Accounting Education.

Curricular Innovation

Accounting & Information Systems faculty—through their research and teaching—are committed to keeping VSB curricula agile, innovative and relevant. Instead of following a traditional textbook approach, VSB's accounting programs are designed to prepare students for careers with accounting firms, consulting firms, corporations (public and private), financial firms, governmental organizations and other professional groups. The innovative courses offered in the Accounting & Information Systems curriculum help provide a solid foundation for virtually any business career and experience that is highly valued in the marketplace.

World-Class Degree Programs

Accounting & Information Systems at VSB supports several degree programs. Undergraduate students may pursue a BBA degree with a major or minor in Accounting, or a major or minor in management information systems. At the graduate level, the department supports the Master of Accounting with Data Analytics (MACDA) program. Many undergraduate accounting majors plan to complete the 150 credit hour requirement by earning via earning both a BBA and Masters degree. A specialization in management information systems is also offered to students enrolled in the Villanova MBA program.
