Waseem Moorad

Biography

Waseem Moorad is the inaugural director of the newly-established Intellectual Property Law Clinic at Villanova Law, where he teaches the clinic seminar and supervises students on matters related to patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. As an engineer, attorney, and entrepreneur, Moorad guides his students to tackle legal matters from a practical and business standpoint in order to effectively and strategically navigate potential clients through various stages of the intellectual property protection process.

Prior to joining Villanova Law, Moorad directed the Detkin Intellectual Property and Technology Legal Clinic at Penn Carey Law, as well as serving 15 years at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, where he was a primary patent examiner in the electrical and computer arts, and a supervisory patent examiner in the mechanical and petroleum technologies.

Outside of teaching, Moorad is the co-founder and a senior partner at Kondori & Moorad, LLP, which has become one of the most reputable elder law and estate planning law firms in the Northern Virginia area. Furthermore, Waseem has been an active entrepreneur for over two decades, establishing multiple commercial enterprises in the sports and real estate construction industries.

Moorad received his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from George Mason University and attended law school at the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law. He is currently admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia, Massachusetts and the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as being a registered patent attorney in front of the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
