MASTER OF TAXATION
Villanova’s Master of Taxation degree emphasizes real-world education and professional responsibility in tax practice through a rigorous and immersive curriculum taught by leading tax scholars and expert practitioners.
In today’s ever-changing world of tax practice, tax professionals need a degree that will help set them apart from the competition and make long-term gains in their career. At Villanova, you’ll learn with and from business professionals, accountants and attorneys in our integrated classes, allowing for in-depth, interdisciplinary examinations of tax principles and policies.
Villanova’s Master of Taxation, consistently ranked as one of the best Master of Taxation programs, is a 30-credit degree program that is available on-campus, online or in a hybrid format. On-campus as well as online Master of Taxation classes are held in the evening, and online master taxation classes are also synchronous and live each week. All courses are designed for part-time adult learners and follow a unique eight-week format, allowing you to concentrate on one course at a time while still finishing in two years.
As part of the Master of Taxation degree, students are required to take six core courses that teach the fundamentals of tax, as well as choose six electives from over 25 comprehensive options spanning many areas of interest in both law and accounting. The core courses introduce topics such as tax policy, federal tax law, corporate tax, and the ethics, responsibilities and nuances of the tax field.
The Villanova Master of Taxation degree features more than 45 faculty members, including full-time tax scholars and leading practitioners from Big Four accounting firms, law firms, the IRS and other tax companies and organizations. At Villanova, you will examine taxation from multiple perspectives, allowing exploration of how both legal and accounting principles affect the field’s ever-changing landscape.
As a taxation master's student, you will be invited to take advantage of all the Nova Nation has to offer, including networking opportunities, campus event panels, symposia and webinar panes on specialized topics. On-campus as well as online students will also be assigned a staff adviser who will help you navigate your time in the Master of Taxation degree.
Students may also pursue a specialty certificate in Employee Benefits, State and Local Taxation, and an online Estate Planning certificate, either together with the Master of Taxation degree or on a stand-alone basis.
