Kyle Schoener ’27 and Robert Slota ’27 Win 66th Annual Theodore L. Reimel Moot Court Competition
November 24, 2025—After weeks of preparation and preliminary arguments, the final round of the 66th Annual Theodore L. Reimel ’24 CLAS Moot Court Competition concluded on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Named in honor of the late Theodore L. Reimel, judge for the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas from 1953 to 1973, the competition fosters student development in written and oral advocacy through simulated appellate argument. The annual intra-school tournament is a hallowed tradition at Villanova Law.
The fictional case argued in this year’s competition involved the use of a geofence warrant to identify the suspect of a carjacking, and whether its execution violated the Fourth Amendment.
The final round consisted of Andrew Becker ’27 and Easton Warner ’27, who argued on behalf of the petitioner. Becker was also named Best Oralist in the Final Round. Kyle Schoener ’27 and Robert Slota ’27, who argued on behalf of the respondent, were victorious.
The final round was presided over by The Honorable Elizabeth T. Hey ’89, magistrate judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, The Honorable Megan McCarthy King, judge for the Superior Court of Pennsylvania and The Honorable Gerald J. Pappert ’85 CLAS, judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
The following students also earned recognition for their exceptional efforts throughout this year’s competition: Phoebe Tuite ’27 and Camryn Williams-Babu ’27 for Best Overall Brief, Allison Blank ’27 and Isabel Cubiñá O'Hara ’27 for Second Best Brief, Isabella Astolfi ’27 and Lilly Rachwal ’27 for Third Best Brief and Jessica Alexander ’27 for Best Preliminary Round Oralist.
