Villanova, Pa., July 1, 2022—Joyce E. A. Russell, PhD, The Helen and William O’Toole Dean of VSB, has been elected chair of the Women Administrators in Management Education (WAME). WAME is an affinity group within the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) that includes women business education leaders such as: female deans, associate deans, assistant deans, program directors, center directors, and academic department chairs and seeks to “transform business schools and business education.”

“I am deeply humbled by this recognition and am delighted to carry out the mission of WAME and AACSB,” said Dean Russell. “My appointment to this role aligns with VSB’s culture in that our goal is to develop business leaders from all backgrounds who strive to make positive impacts around the world. It is especially rewarding for me to help support and advance women in leadership roles in business.”

With more than 600 members globally, WAME recognizes the unique experiences and challenges that woman working in higher education face and provides resources to support their leadership journeys. This affinity group, which is also welcoming of non-women members, offers initiatives like Got Your Back and Pathways to the Boardroom that help female administrators build communities of support and leverage their influence to obtain advanced positions in higher education.

Dean Russell serves as the chief executive, academic and fiscal officer for VSB and represents the school locally and nationally, to the University community and to all external constituencies, including the business community. She is strongly committed to diversity and inclusion and has launched numerous programs to enhance the diversity of faculty, staff, and students in VSB as well as programs designed for middle and high school girls and diverse students to aspire to education and careers in business.
