Rooted. Restless. The Role of Values in Business Education
In any given day, business leaders make countless decisions. Whether it's managing people or directing investments, growing a business or creating a new one, every decision offers an opportunity for positive change --the potential to advance our world and seek what makes us better. Leadership that thinks and acts responsibly and serves a greater purpose demands more than knowledge and natural ability. It requires a deeply held commitment to pursuing excellence and the optimal outcome for our organization and our society.
At the Villanova School of Business, our Augustinian values provide the framework for our mission and for our approach to business education. Driven by the ideals of truth, community and service to others, we create an environment where students strengthen both their intellectual curiosity and their values. They build the competencies to succeed, to pursue lifelong learning, and to truly become business leaders for a better world.
Our values are present throughout all elements of the VSB experience. Across our students, faculty, staff, alumni and partners, we are rooted in our Augustinian tradition, but also restless to become what we are not yet. This sense of commitment and shared purpose creates a strong community of humble servant leaders who together continually strive to build a better world in all that we do.

Solve problems, think creatively and work collaboratively with an unwavering commitment to serve the greater good.
Grounded in a rich liberal arts tradition and rooted in Augustinian values, Villanova engineers become immersed in entrepreneurial thinking and hands-on experiences that open a world of career paths across countless industries.
Villanova engineering students master the why and how of engineering in a global environment. Collaborative faculty-student engagements, research, service learning trips and career exploration opportunities extend far beyond the classroom. Introducing engineering to Philadelphia-area school students through our STEM outreach programs and pursuing solutions to some of our world’s most significant issues through the Grand Challenge Scholars Program are just two examples of transformational experiences that last a lifetime.
In the very first semester of study, engineering students are exposed to Chemical, Civil & Environmental, Computer, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. This early foundation provides hands-on, team-based experiences that introduce you to the variety of engineering disciplines. These first-year experiences also help you form lasting relationships and friendships that will support and encourage you throughout your time at Villanova.
Beyond campus, students are connected to an extensive network of Villanova engineering alumni who can be found leading companies in nearly every industry and every part of the world—from rocket and satellite development to technology incubators to building and renewing infrastructures. During sophomore year, you will be partnered with one of these alumni who will serve as an invaluable professional mentor.
At Villanova, the intellectual nature of developing engineers is nurtured through a learning dynamic that teaches students to think critically and act ethically. Villanova educates mission-driven problem solvers who strive to make meaningful and sustainable change in the world.
