APPLICATION DATES AND DEADLINES
First-Year Application Plans
Villanova University offers first-year applicants a choice of four application plans: Early Action, Early Decision I, Early Decision II and Regular Decision. Please see below for more details on each option along with pertinent dates and deadlines.
Early Action (EA) is a non-binding application plan that is ideal for students who would like to apply early in their senior year but are not sure what college or university they would like to attend yet. Early Action applicants will receive an admission decision of admit, deny or defer.
| Application Deadline | November 1 |
| Priority Filing Date for Financial Assistance | November 1 |
| Admission Decision Notification | by January 20 |
| Enrollment Deposit Deadline | by May 1 |
Early Decision I (EDI) is for students who have decided that Villanova is their first choice after a thorough and thoughtful college search and know they would choose to enroll immediately if offered admission. This application plan is binding, meaning that if admitted you will enroll at Villanova and withdraw all applications to other colleges and universities. Early Decision I applicants will receive an admission decision of admit, deny or defer.
| Application Deadline | November 1 |
| Financial Assistance Deadline | November 1 |
| Decision Notification | by December 1 |
| Enrollment Deposit Deadline | Within two weeks of admission* |
* The exact enrollment deposit deadline will be shared in the letter of admission.
Early Decision II (EDII) is for students who have decided that Villanova is their first choice after a thorough and thoughtful college search and know they would choose to enroll immediately if offered admission, but are not ready to make that commitment by November 1. This application plan is binding, meaning that if admitted you will enroll at Villanova and withdraw all applications to other colleges and universities. Early Decision II applicants will receive an admission decision of admit, deny or waitlist.
| Application Deadline | January 15 |
| Financial Assistance Deadline | January 15 |
| Decision Notification | by February 15 |
| Enrollment Deposit Deadline | Within two weeks of admission* |
* The exact enrollment deposit deadline will be shared in the letter of admission.
Regular Decision (RD) is the standard, non-binding application plan. If you think that your senior year grades and testing results (if choosing to send them) would enhance your candidacy, we recommend you apply RD. This will also allow you more time to work on your application essays, as they are an additional important component to your application. Regular Decision applicants will receive an admission decision of admit, deny or waitlist.
| Application Deadline | January 15 |
| Priority Filing Date for Financial Assistance | January 15 |
| Admission Decision Notification | by April 1 |
| Enrollment Deposit Deadline | by May 1 |
If you decide after submitting your application that you would like to switch your admission plan from Early Action or Regular Decision to one of our binding Early Decision rounds, please email gotovu@villanova.edu. With that email, please attach a completed Early Decision Agreement Form.
Please note that our deadline for application plan change from Early Action to Early Decision I is November 10. Our deadline for deferred Early Action candidates or students who previously selected Regular Decision as their application plan to change to Early Decision II is January 31.
Please note: If you are having trouble completing your application by the deadlines above due to impacts from a natural disaster, personal extenuating circumstance or a school-related disruption, please know we are flexible with our deadlines. You can request an extension by contacting gotovu@villanova.edu or 610-519-4000.
