BRIGHTSPACE TRAINING AND SUPPORT
To make optimal use of the features and functionality newly available in the new LMS, instructors will be asked to rebuild their courses on D2L Brightspace. While this will be a significant undertaking for those with significant materials in their current Blackboard courses, a variety of coaching resources and support will be available to ease this transition.

Brightspace Course Design Lab, Spring Recess 2026
Looking for focused time and in-person support to get started on creating your course(s) in Brightspace? Join us for a two-day, lab-style program designed to help you build your course in Brightspace. The lab combines substantial individual work time with targeted guidance, short demonstrations, and one-on-one assistance from UTS and VITAL colleagues. Whether you are migrating an existing course or designing something new, you will have access to resources, templates, and support throughout the process. Refreshments and lunch are provided.
Choose from two in-person sessions: March 2-3 (Mon-Tues) or March 4-5 (Weds-Thurs), 9:00am-3:00pm. Faculty who will be teaching their in-person course online in summer 2026 are encouraged to participate.
Unable to attend during Spring Recess? We will be offering two more sessions in June, on June 8-9 (Mon-Tues) and June 10-11 (Weds-Thurs). - registration forthcoming.

Brightspace Training Pathways

We invite you to reflect on your current course(s) and how the students’ experience out-of-class interfaces with the in-class experience and select the approach to transitioning your course(s) to Brightspace that best supports your teaching goals.
