The Rev. Kevin DePrinzio, OSA, PhD, has been appointed to serve as vice president for Mission and Ministry. Assuming the role in July 2020, Father Kevin succeeds Barbara Wall, PhD, who retired after 50 years at Villanova.

Father Kevin brings nearly 20 years of experience in ministry to the position. Prior to his appointment, he served as an assistant professor in Theology and Religious Studies.

Guided by the spirit of humility modeled by St. Augustine, the University’s Office of Mission and Ministry works to develop and carry out events and initiatives that reflect, celebrate and advance Villanova’s identity, both on campus and in the world.

“Father Kevin’s vision—engaging the University in its entirety and challenging our members to reflect on our mission consistently and practice it creatively—immediately stood out to me,” says the Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, ’75 CLAS, Villanova President. “Under Father Kevin’s leadership, I have no doubt that the office, and our mission, will continue to flourish.”

Engineering the Future

A champion of advancing research and scholarship in engineering education, Michele Marcolongo, PhD, took the helm at Villanova’s College of Engineering as the Drosdick Endowed Dean in July 2020.

Dean Marcolongo’s engineering career spans more than three decades and encompasses roles as a professor, researcher, administrator, inventor and entrepreneur. Prior to coming to Villanova, she served as the department head and professor of Materials Science and Engineering in Drexel University’s College of Engineering. Her extensive research focuses on biomaterials and engineered biomedical solutions to treat disease.

“Our search for a new dean centered on finding an individual who champions innovative teaching and scholarship, appreciates the opportunities of engineering to positively impact society, and has extensive experience working with major research corporations and agencies,” says Provost Patrick G. Maggitti, PhD. “Dr. Marcolongo brings all of these qualities, along with a steadfast commitment to supporting our world-class faculty and students to reach their full potential.”

Under Father Kevin's leadership, I have no doubt that the office and our mission will continue to flourish.”
