What "Pursue the Next You" Means to CPS Students
At Villanova University's College of Professional Studies (CPS) we ask our students to Pursue the Next You. That four-word phrase can mean something different to every student in our college. For many, it's a challenge to strive for in the classroom and in their daily lives. For others, it's about goal-setting and finding their next step in life.
We asked a group of CPS students and alumni to tell their stories and to define what Pursue the Next You means to them. Their answers reinforced our admiration for the hard work and dedication it takes to be an adult student succeeding in higher education.

How did you find your way to CPS?
I found my way to CPS through determination and drive. It has always been my dream to attend Villanova since high school, and even though I wasn't able to attend right after graduating, I never lost sight of my goal. After school, I entered the workforce and worked multiple jobs, even applying to jobs at Villanova multiple times, but was never called for an interview. I almost gave up, but one night, I took a chance and applied for a position on the Villanova website. To my surprise, I was soon called for an interview and was eventually hired.
This provided me with the opportunity to continue pursuing my dream of attending Villanova, and soon after, I enrolled in classes. Although my journey may not have been conventional or traditional, my passion and dedication to reaching my goal wouldn't allow me to lose sight of my vision and that drive has led me to where I am today. I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have brought me to CPS, and I am excited to continue my growth and development at Villanova.
What does “Pursue the Next You” mean to you?
"Pursuing the Next You" to me means embracing a growth mindset and never settling for mediocrity. It's about constantly striving for self-improvement, both professionally and personally. Whether it's learning a new skill, taking on a new challenge, or reflecting on my values and beliefs, the journey towards the next me is a lifelong one. I embrace the opportunities for growth and don't shy away from stepping outside my comfort zone. The next me is always within reach, and the journey towards it is what makes life exciting.

What does “Pursue the Next You” mean to you?
"Pursue the Next You" is a challenge to yourself to not be satisfied with who you are in the moment but to be curious about what you can be in the future. I recently left military service after a 20 year career with not much of a plan or an idea of what would come next. Through my experience at CPS I discovered a passion for learning and applying that knowledge towards a career in higher education. My success at CPS has given me the confidence that I can continue my education in a graduate program in order to continue the pursuit of the next me.

I consider myself a lifelong learner, which was a value instilled in me by my grandfather. I knew that in order to reach my goals I would need a program with a supportive community of likeminded individuals. I found all this and more at Villanova!
