VSB Senior Madeline Chang Makes Facial Masks With Her Family During Quarantine

Madeline Chang and Her Family

With the growing demand for personal protective equipment during the pandemic, Madeline Chang ’20 VSB has made thousands of homemade face masks with help from her mother and sister. They have donated the gear to relatives, friends, police forces, military units and hospitals. They have also sold several hundred masks to companies to help offset the costs of shipping and materials.

Maddy is a senior Marketing major and Business Analytics co-major. Feeling nostalgic for campus, Maddy found Villanova-themed fabric to show her Nova pride. She then reached out to her VSB professors to ask if they would like the homemade masks her family was making.

Julie Pirsch, PhD, Associate Dean, Teaching & Learning and Teaching Professor, Marketing, received masks for her family. She said, “I was touched by the Chang family’s thoughtfulness and consideration, and I’m continuously impressed by students like Maddy, who embrace Villanova’s mission and dedication to service amidst adversity.
