Inspired by their Teacher, MBA Class Raises Funds for Local COVID-19 Surge Facility

Students on a Zoom Call

The Healthcare Economics MBA class came together to raise $570 to donate to the COVID-19 surge facility at the Liacouras Center at Temple University As COVID-19 began to impact the local community, the class’ adjunct faculty member, Kurt Miceli ’00 VSB, had to step away from teaching and dedicate more time as his role as Chief Medical Officer at Elwyn, a national leader in autism care. The class partnered with healthcare consultant Sandy Gomberg, former COO of Aria Health, who teaches a similar course in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program, when she was asked by the City of Philadelphia to serve as CEO of the surge facility. While serving as CEO, Gomberg taught the class from the facility. Inspired by her work, the students came together in true Villanova spirit by caring for the community.
