Model Leadership
Yet, these concepts do not simply apply to her sports or professional career. An Army veteran, Dorfler is most proud of her military service. Deployed as a Military Intelligence Officer during the NATO Peacekeeping Operation in Bosnia, Dorfler says her unit “worked tirelessly and sacrificed a lot to make a positive difference in communities that were torn apart by war.”
Her experience as an Army veteran and woman in business guide her as she continues to make a positive impact in her community. In this way, she leverages her own experiences to help others navigate their careers.
At NBCUniversal, Dorfler helped establish a Veterans Network. Additionally, she mentors veterans transitioning into the workforce, working women establishing a career, and working parents on balancing one’s work and family life.
Such an attitude of giving, Dorfler recalls, can be traced back to her time at the Villanova School of Business (VSB).
VSB “established a lasting foundation of always thinking about giving back and creating positive change in everything that I do,” says Dorfler. “I am constantly inspired by recalling my own experiences at VSB and especially by observing young Villanovans that I’ve hired, interact or work with.”
Led by her commitment to service, Dorfler wishes to model what it means to be a future leader.
“As a young Army Officer and woman in business, I was always inspired to see leaders that I wanted to be someday. I hope now that I am providing the same inspiration to young employees coming up the ranks.”
