GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE

Following a summer study abroad session in Urbino, Italy with the CLAS, Liz Fiske ’16 VSB transferred into VSB. When Fiske walked into the Bartley Atrium that fall as a business student, she was nervous, yet excited, to dive right in. Two years later, Fiske walked out of Bartley as a graduate–proudly looking to her future as a Global Fellow with a Management, International Business, Marketing and Business Law education to her name.

Despite Fiske’s mindset on starting her career abroad, she instead stumbled across a mid-sized company based in the U.S., with employees in over 30 countries. It felt like a great fit – and reminded her of the Scotland office she worked at during her junior year semester abroad, which seemed like a sign. Fiske accepted the offer and started that August.

Four years later, Fiske has grown tremendously and been given incredible opportunities to further develop herself and her career. Along the way, Fiske enrolled in the Villanova Human Resources Management Certificate program and once again was learning amongst Villanovans, this time with real world experience to bring to the (online) classroom.

Fiske regularly collaborated with colleagues in the UK, Chile, Australia, Italy, UAE and met countless others from all over the world. She visited the offices in Australia and the UK, and brought in new employees from nearly every continent. At the moment, Fiske is working on diversity, employer branding, and team collaboration initiatives, in addition to her primary role on the Talent team. Fiske’s enthusiasm for, and success in, these projects is due in part to the courses, assignments, professors, and classmates which filled her schedule as a VSB student.

In short, Fiske’s time at Villanova cultivated a passion for learning, and helped her to build a strong foundation upon which she can continue to ignite change beyond the classroom. As Fiske navigates her career in this global business environment, she often looks back on her time at VSB with appreciation—and never misses an opportunity to throw her V’s up when she passes someone repping Villanova.
