Big Deals in the Big East
Wildcat student-athletes left their mark on the Big East throughout the year
Cross Country
In the fall, the Men’s Cross Country team won its seventh Big East title, and the Women’s team came in second. Sophomore Lydia Olivere took the individual title, and she was also named an All-American. In Indoor Track and Field, both the Men’s and Women’s teams won Big East titles.
Swimming and Diving
The Women’s Swimming and Diving team won its seventh straight Big East championship, and 12 members of the team were named to the All-Big East team. Seven Men’s Swimming and Diving team members made the All-Big East team, and men’s divers took three of the top four spots in the 3-meter event at the conference championships.
Basketball
Villanova had the Big East Freshman of the Year for Men’s Basketball, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, and the Big East Rookie of the Year for Women’s Basketball, freshman Maddy Siegrist. Maddy and senior Mary Gadaka also were named to the first team All-Big East. As the Men's team completed its season in a three-way tie for the regular season Big East title, sophomore Saddiq Bey—one of the team's leaders—also was named to the first team All-Big East.
