Villanova University Names Marilou Smith as Vice President for Facilities Management
Villanova University has announced the appointment of Marilou Smith ‘84 COE ‘22 MBA as Vice President for Facilities Management. This appointment is the result of a national search that attracted an exceptional pool of candidates from across the country. Smith brings more than three decades years of experience to her new leadership position, most recently serving as Assistant Vice President for Engineering and Construction at Villanova.
Villanova Receives $40 Million to Espiritus Nova: The Campaign for Villanova University
Villanova University has received a gift of $40 million that will advance the University’s ability to meet the ever-changing demands of higher education and further strengthen Villanova’s Augustinian Catholic educational mission. This anonymous gift marks the largest gift to-date as part of Espiritus Nova: The Campaign for Villanova University, which publicly launched on October 5, and is the second largest individual gift in Villanova’s history.
Villanova Professor at the Forefront of Work to Tackle Quantum Threats
Experts predict that by 2035, quantum computers could crack encryption codes that secure everyday transactions and data. Jiafeng Xie, PhD, associate professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is at the forefront of this battle, using his Security and Cryptography Lab to strengthen security measures against the threat of quantum computers.
