DEPARTMENT OF ROMANCE LANGUAGES AND LITERATURES
Our students prepare for professional and civic careers by acquiring a unique multicultural perspective through the study of language and linguistics, the arts, gender studies, history, and politics.
Romance Languages and Literatures students engage with language and cultural diversity in the French-, Italian-, and Spanish-speaking worlds while building the essential skills of critical thinking, effective communication, and informed perspectives regarding global and domestic issues. Undergraduates improve their linguistic competence and develop their research skills while studying art, literature, and cultural history. The Department offers opportunities for social engagement ranging from studying abroad through our department-sponsored programs to internships and community service.
