The Office of Research Administration is the unit of Academic Affairs charged with administering research-related grant and contract activity so as to assure that the ethical and legal interests of the University and the sponsors are understood, appropriately funded, and completed.

ORA also works with the Provost, the Deans, department chairs and individual faculty members to find sources of research funding which will enable committed faculty to pursue scholarly interests which require resources that cannot be personally or institutionally provided. As with all research at Villanova University, acquiring and stringently administering sponsored research awards helps fulfill two of the universal missions of higher education which are to create new knowledge and to disseminate new and existing knowledge to students, the surrounding community and society at large.
