Classroom Technologies Upgrades

UNIT’s Classroom Technology Team upgraded the following areas during the Spring Semester:

  • 6 labs in the M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing – Driscoll Hall labs are  feature all of the technologies of a typical classroom plus simulation for health assessment, standardized patient observation and testing. The upgrades include new HD projectors, HD cameras, software-based video conferencing, wireless A/V and switchers. Switchers provide faculty and students with the various wired connections to the projection systems and displays in the classrooms which impove picture and sound quality, allowing for a better teaching and learning experience.
  • The Dean’s Boardroom received a complete A/V upgrade. The upgrade was necessary to support digital signals, BYOD devices and the unique uses of the boardroom. The upgrades include a new HD projector that extends out of a wall pocket on a Crestron controlled actuator. The motorized projection screen drops from the ceiling to reveal an integrated HD camera for video conferencing. The space also features a house computer, audio conferencing, wired and wireless A/V connectivity and a wireless touch panel for Crestron system control.

IT Security: Spring Clean up

Spring-cleaning time is here, and time to check for updates, eliminate useless software and files, and get your home computer organized.  Here are some IT tips:

  • Organize Your Files:  Every file should have a proper place. Create new folders and properly name your files, and delete what you do not need. Make sure private information is secure and where it needs to be.
  • Update Applications and Programs:  Delete unused applications and programs. Check your anti-virus, anti-spyware, and anti-malware software for updates.
  • Reset important passwords: No matter how strong and perfect your Amazon and Facebook passwords are, it is time for a change. This includes your computer account’s password, social media passwords, online banking and PayPal password.
  • Run Computer Utilities:  Whether you have a Windows or Mac computer, running your computer’s built-in utilities is easy.

Remember, these tips can also be used for your smart phone and tablet!
