UNIT is releasing a new and improved way to create online forms. Forms will now be created in the Adobe CQ environment. There is also the capability to limit forms to certain audiences by requiring them to login to view the form. More information and instructions will be sent to users who have access to edit websites in December. All existing forms will be converted over to the new system in the next few months.
Prior to Spring registration, UNIT in conjunction with the Registrar’s office released an upgrade to the Schedulr application. Schedulr is an application that is used by many students to provide a visual representation of the courses they are interested in enrolling. The upgrade included all Interdisciplinary Studies courses. The registration process is still maintained in myNOVA, Schedulr is a viewing tool only.
Athletics, in partnership with UNIT’s Data Networks team, recently deployed Paciolan’s Access Management system. The Access Management system is a ticket scanning application that will be used at Villanova athletic events taking place at The Pavilion and stadium, and initially for Men’s Basketball and Football. The scanning solution also includes a "Digital Ticketing" system, that allows Villanova fans the ability to print tickets at home, and bypass "will call" lines for a seamless game-day experience. Digital Ticketing will also provide University fans the option of mobile delivery and to scan their tickets at events via their mobile devices. Additionally, the Access Management technology will enable Athletics staff to track real-time attendance data and validate tickets at each entrance to University venues, while also preventing fraudulent tickets.
Tis the Season to be Cautious
Unfortunately, this is also the time unscrupulous websites may attempt to scam you by selling counterfeit products, stealing your credit card information or failing to deliver anything. In this newsletter we will cover some of the dangers of shopping online and ways to protect ourselves.
A scammer can easily set up a website that appears to be a legitimate store by simply copying the look of other, well-known stores. Some of these websites may be fake.
Indicators of fraudulent websites include:
Be smart with your credit card. This involves keeping an eye on your credit card statements to identify suspicious charges. Debit cards take money directly from your bank account, and if fraud has been committed it is far more difficult to get your money back. Finally, several credit cards give you the option of generating unique card number for every online purchase, or perhaps consider a service like PayPal where you do not have to expose your credit card with every online purchase. Check your credit card company to see what additional services they offer for online purchases.
