Welcome to the UNIT Updates webpage where UNIT will display monthly updates on services and solutions, projects, new UNIT Initiatives and relevant UNIT information for the Villanova Community. Please let us know if you have any comments or ideas for future issues.
Beginning on January 3rd, 2013 the Blackboard system will be undergoing some changes to the interface to enhance the usability and benefit from new product features. The look and feel will be a little bit different but all of the information can be found in the same places as before. The My Courses tab replaces the My Institution tab and the Resources tab replaces the My Courses tab. Faculty will be able to take advantage of the new Course Structures tool which delivers pre-built Navigation menus to help decide the layout of the course based on teaching style.
The login page has also been changed. All students and faculty will be required to login by clicking on the Villanova University seal.
Starting on January 5th, UNIT will release an upgrade to the Personal Homepage website environment. UNIT with this new website environment will be sun-setting FrontPage Extensions and will be making available MS Expressions Web as a web editing tool for user homepages. The reason for this upgrade is to provide users with a more reliable environment to connect and edit homepages. For more information on this upgrade, please visit HERE.
We have Online Peer-to-Peer Discussion Groups where you can post the latest information, tips, experiences, or ask/answer questions from your peers. Discussion Groups do not require membership; simply click the URL and login with your LDAP credentials to post. Discussion Groups are available for: Apple MacBook/OS, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint Administration, Smart Phones, Tablets and Word. If you want an email alert sent to you when someone posts, please post on the discussion board’s opt-in email alert post. You can opt-out of the alerts at any time. Discussion Groups located HERE.
UNIT supports effective and consistent management of security incidents involving Villanova University data, information, and information technology resources. Part of a broader IT Service Strategy, UNIT’s Service Catalog launched in May 2013. The goal is to provide a better understanding of IT services and offerings, and make it easier to maneuver and search. Over the last year, UNIT has worked with University administrative offices and colleges to launch innovative new IT projects, services and solutions.
UNIT again invites all students, faculty, and staff to “revisit” the updated IT Service Catalog, and learn more about these new IT services and support offerings. Each service category includes a summary of the service, access and availability, and informational links back to the main webpage.
