First-Year Student - Technology Welcome Letter

Welcome Villanova Class of 2026!

In preparation for your transition to Villanova, we wanted to share important information regarding technology use at Villanova University.

Your Villanova Account

Please remember to visit the MyNova Portal to manage your Villanova account.

Villanova’s MyNova portal is where you can manage your Villanova user account, as well as access many critical services for your campus experience: password reset, course schedules, rosters, bills, email, Blackboard, Novasis, and more.

Setting Up Multi-Factor Authenication

Please remember to enroll in DUO for your Villanova account to enable multi-factor authentication.

Your Villanova user account will require multi-factor authentication to ensure the safety of your campus accounts. Villanova utilizes DUO for our multi-factor solution. Additional information and how-to instructions for enrolling your devices can be found at the UNIT DUO site.

Your Wildcard

Please remember to upload a photo for your Villanova Wildcard.

Your Wildcard (campus ID card) is more than just an ID; it's your key to on-campus buildings and facilities as well as NovaBucks, which you can use for purchases both on and off-campus. Additional information, how-to videos, and secure access to card-related services, please visit the Wildcard site.

Setting Up NOVA Alert

NOVA Alert delivers important emergency alerts, notifications and updates to any mobile device or email you choose to register when an incident or emergency occurs on or around campus.

Use the following instructions to enter your contact information to receive Nova Alerts.

Computers and Software

Each College at Villanova has slightly different recommendations for computing equipment for their students’ needs based on the tools they will be expected to use during their major-specific coursework.

Students at Villanova have access to multiple software packages for free, to help them in their coursework.

  • Many of these software packages can be download from our Software Portal.
  • Other software packages can be accessed virtually via our vDesktop service.
  • Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and OneNote) can be downloaded or used online.

Villanova On Your Mobile

Villanova has multiple mobile apps to support and enhance your Villanova experience, including the official University app Nova Now!

You can configure your Apple or Android mobile device to connect to Villanova's email system.

Course Access and Content

The University's learning management system Blackboard is your source for content and resources for both on-campus and online courses.

You can access remote instruction and collaboration software via Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Wireless Connectivity

You can connect your devices to the campus wireless network for high-speed internet access.

Xfinity On-Campus

XFINITY On Campus is a service from Comcast that provides students with the ability to watch live TV from a pre-selected channel line-up and view content on-demand directly to your computer and select mobile and video streaming devices such as Apple and Android.

Virtual Computing and Printing

Whether needing to quickly access a piece of software you do not have installed or print a paper before class, you will want to familiarize yourself with the campus vDesktop and vPrint services.

  • vDesktop is a virtual desktop technology that allows students to access a standard OS and set of software applications, via any computer with an internet connection.
  •  vPrint is an accessible, cost-effective, and convenient public printing solution available to Villanova students for uploading and printing documents on campus.
