Athletic EcoReps is a peer-to-peer education program for student environmental leaders to promote sustainability throughout the Villanova Athletics program. Past projects include adding recycling bins and signage to athletic facilities, instillation of two hydration stations and bringing the ShoeBox recycling program to campus. Student athletes or assistants for a variety or intramural team are eligible to apply for the Athletic EcoRep Program.
Fair Trade; under Catholic Relief Services, is a group dedicated to the education and awareness of social rights of third world farmers and workers by promoting and encouraging the purchase of Fair Trade products. Contact Will Stehl for more information.
Villanovans in Defense of Animals (VIDA)
VIDA addresses the way in which animals are treated in the food, pet, entertainment, and gaming industries with an eye towards minimizing or eliminating the suffering they endure. The Student Managed Fund includes both undergraduate and graduates students tasked with socially responsible investing for two student run funds. Areas that are considered when looking for investments that are socially responsible include: protecting human life; promoting human dignity; reducing arms production; pursuing economic justice; protecting the environment; and encouraging corporate responsibility.
