March 31 Message from the Dean of Students - U.S. Census

The Dean of Students

March 31, 2020

Dear Villanova Students,

I am writing today about the importance of Villanova University students participating in the 2020 U.S. Census, and to ask for your help.

It is critical that the University provide accurate counts for the 2020 Census because it influences how federal funding is calculated for necessary services locally and statewide, including federal student aid, student wellness programs and community services. More information can be found by visiting the official U.S. 2020 Census website.

Below is some important information about the U.S. Census for students living both on campus and off campus that is consistent with the guidance provided by the U.S. Census Bureau.

  • Families SHOULD NOT count college students in their households as part of the census, even if those students are now living at home as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please share this information with your parent or guardian.
  • Students Living On Campus

Villanova’s Office of Residence Life will provide the U.S. Census Bureau the information necessary to ensure an accurate count of each student who was living on campus this year.

  • Students Living Off Campus

Students living off campus  DO NOT need the code that was mailed by the U.S. Census Bureau. Simply complete the official 2020 Census form with your NAME and CURRENT OFF-CAMPUS ADDRESS (NOTE: Do not use your permanent home address).

Thank you for helping Villanova to accurately report its 2020 census information. If you have questions about the University’s process for completing the census, please contact Laura Wagoner, Assistant Director for Government and Community Relations, at
