April 3 Message from the Vice President for Student Life
April 3, 2020
Dear Residential Students,
First, I want to thank you and your families for your patience and understanding during these difficult and uncertain times. I am following up on my email from March 23 with another update regarding the retrieval of your belongings from the residence halls.
Since the CDC continues to restrict travel and Governor Tom Wolf announced on Monday that the stay-at-home order in Pennsylvania has been extended through April 30, students will not be able to return to campus to gather their belongings in the residence halls until the stay-at-home order has been lifted. We will contact you after the order is lifted to communicate the process for reserving a date and time to return to campus to retrieve your items.
In the interim, I want to remind you of the following options:
- If—due to extenuating circumstances—you need to get your items more quickly, you should contact the Office of Residence Life at firstname.lastname@example.org. These requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and will only be considered if consistent with any travel restrictions and CDC recommendations in place at the time of the request.
- Once the order has been lifted, you may also choose to have relatives or friends retrieve your items, or contract with a packing, moving and storage company instead of returning to campus. The University will then facilitate access to your room, only with your permission, which must be provided through a form that will be available online.
We will communicate with you when information becomes more concrete, and in the meantime, please email email@example.com with any questions.
Rev. John P. Stack, OSA
