Racism and Mental Health
The Villanova University Counseling Center joins the rest of the Villanova community in expressing our grief, sorrow and compassion to all those who have been impacted by the racial tragedies that have occurred across our nation. These tragedies reflect a longstanding history of injustice that we are dedicated to addressing. While these tragedies can be traumatizing for all of us, we recognize that they may be especially injurious to members of our Black and African American community. In the aftermath of experiencing, hearing about, or witnessing trauma, it is normal to experience a range of distressing feelings such as shock, fear, sadness, anger, helplessness or guilt.
The University Counseling Center provides care for all our students, including those who have been directly or vicariously impacted by trauma.
We encourage you to contact our office (610-519-4050) if you would like to schedule an appointment to receive support.
