Pending Legislation

“Approximately 6.5 million people in the United States have an intellectual disability. Approximately 1-3 percent of the global population has an intellectual disability -- as many as 200 million people.” (Special Olympics)

There is a pivotal need for legislation to accommodate the respective needs of our friends with different abilities. Every year, many laws involving awareness and recognition of people with intellectual disabilities are created, but are never introduced to or passed in Congress. However, you have the ability to change this by appealing to your local Representative or Senator. These elected officials are always willing to listen to citizens’ concerns and encourage feedback on how they can enhance lives. A letter from a concerned citizen like you can enfluence a politician that has the power to introduce important laws in Congress, and make a change that we all want to see in the world.
