Delta Delta Delta is collegiate women’s fraternity that was founded in 1888 at Boston University by Sarah Ida Shaw and Eleanor Dorcas Pond. "Let us found a society that shall be kind alike to all and think more of a girl's inner self and character than of her personal appearance." At that moment, the two friends embarked on their journey to create Delta Delta Delta.
The Gamma Beta Chapter of Delta Delta Delta at Villanova University is proud to be the highest fundraising chapter in the Northeast region for Tri Delta's national philanthropy, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The sisters are proud to announce that for 2018-2019, they have raised a total of $93,250 for St. Jude.
In 1999, Tri Delta formed a partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital The hospital, located in Memphis, TN, runs solely on donations, and no child is turned away from treatment due to a family’s inability to pay. In addition to St. Jude, we also support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation,, which was founded by Alex Scott, a girl with cancer from the Villanova community. Although Alex passed away at the tender age of eight, the foundation has raised more than $45 million in hopes to cure cancer.
The Gamma Beta chapter at Villanova University holds various events on campus such as an Annual Kickball Tournament in the spring and Alex’s Lemonade Stand in the fall to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
When you walk around campus, you can always spot a group of Tri Delta girls eating lunch together, at the library together, or hanging out in between classes together. Although they are united by their blue and yellow colors, the bond between sisters goes much deeper. Many times throughout the semester, Tri Deltas get together for various sisterhood events, which include retreats, workout classes, chapter meetings, and much more!
