Alpha Psi Lambda (ΑΨΛ)

Alpha Psi Lambda Members

In the mid 1980s there was a surge of Latinos completing higher education, yet many colleges and universities were unequipped to handle the social and academic needs of these students. On February 11, 1985 at the Ohio State University, 13 noble men and women founded a co-educational fraternity for students of Hispanic and Latino origin known today as Alpha Psi Lambda National, Inc. A fraternity which embraces diversity, encourages cultural awareness, and is inclusive of all races, ethnicities, genders, and sexual orientations and all other social identifiers. We are the Nation's First and Largest Coed Latinx Interest Fraternity. Gender Inclusive, Not Latino Exclusive. Apsi brothers and sisters live by the moto "Together We Shall Seek The Noblest!"

Today Alpha Psi Lambda National, Inc. (ΑΨΛ) has grown to include over 3,500 members primarily in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States with 37 chapters and 6 Affiliate Chapters spanning 16 states from the East to West coasts.

The Villanova Affiliate Chapter of Alpha Psi Lambda National, Inc. (ΑΨΛ) was founded on December 6th, 2015 by 8 noble brothers and sisters forming the Tikal Line: Captain Jonathan Caggiano, Erika Montes, Jocelin Rocha, Kirk Reinoso, Karl Chandeck, Jose Green, Arianne Wilson, and Anchor Gabriella Antonio. Since then three more lines have crossed: La Elegida, Pleamar, and Indomables.

As an organization, we aim to promote continued personal and collective growth of our membership, success and unity through education, leadership, cultural awareness and community service. It is for this reason that Alpha Psi Lambda National, Inc. chose the Boys and Girls Club of America to be our national philanthropy. The Boys and Girls Club of America works to help underprivileged children with the opportunity to succeed through summer and afterschool programs among other activities.

Alpha Psi Lambda makes it a priority to serve those in need because we care about the community as a whole. Being a brotherhood and sisterhood, we believe in the concept of Familia both within the organization itself and outside in our respective communities. Dedicating our time and efforts into bringing positive change is one of the ways to show what our values are: Familia, Culture, Academics, Service and Leadership.

The Villanova Affliate Chapter of Alpha Psi Lambda, has currently partnered with Casa del Carmen in Northeast Philadelphia; a Catholic Social Services site.  Alpha Psi Lambda has also volunteered on St. Thomas of Villanova Day of Service, NALFO Day of Service, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.
