In the mid 1980s there was a surge of Latinos completing higher education, yet many colleges and universities were unequipped to handle the social and academic needs of these students. On February 11, 1985 at the Ohio State University, 13 noble men and women founded a co-educational fraternity for students of Hispanic and Latino origin known today as Alpha Psi Lambda National, Inc. A fraternity which embraces diversity, encourages cultural awareness, and is inclusive of all races, ethnicities, genders, and sexual orientations and all other social identifiers. We are the Nation's First and Largest Coed Latinx Interest Fraternity. Gender Inclusive, Not Latino Exclusive. Apsi brothers and sisters live by the moto "Together We Shall Seek The Noblest!"
Today Alpha Psi Lambda National, Inc. (ΑΨΛ) has grown to include over 3,500 members primarily in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States with 37 chapters and 6 Affiliate Chapters spanning 16 states from the East to West coasts.
