Alpha Gamma Delta (ΑΓΔ)

Alpha Gamma Delta is an international women's fraternity that promotes academic excellence, philanthropic giving, ongoing leadership and personal development and above all, a spirit of loving sisterhood. Guided by our Purpose, Alpha Gamma Deltas strive to attain a higher standard, thereby improving their lives, the lives of those around them and the communities in which they live. Together, we continually work to inspire the woman and impact the world.

Take a few minutes to explore our site and find out more about Alpha Gam on Villanova's campus!

Alpha Gamma Delta was officially founded on May 30, 1904, at the home of Dr. Wellesley Perry Coddington, a professor at Syracuse University, who was instrumental in the early development of Alpha Gamma Delta. Each of the Fraternity's 11 Founders were progressive and influential women who selflessly contributed to the foundation and growth of Alpha Gamma Delta. Since the founding, collegiate chapters have been installed at 194 colleges and universities across North America and more than 183,000 women have become Alpha Gam sisters. Guided by our Purpose, Alpha Gamma Delta sisters impact our communities and contribute to the world's work.

Lambda Gamma chapter at Villanova was installed on April 20th, 2013.

Passion and purpose define Alpha Gams at Villanova. From taking on leadership roles in on-campus organizations like Blue Key and Special Olympics, excelling academically in every college across campus, and saving time for fun sisterhood events like retreats and movie nights, Alpha Gams know how to balance sorority life. Cheering on Villanova Basketball, staying up late studying, and attending multiple functions a semester is made so much better with sisters by your side!

In Alpha Gamma Delta we have two main functions of philanthropy: service and fundraising. Service is the hands-on component of giving back to our communities. Fundraising entails any monetary donation to an organization.

Alpha Gamma Delta’s philanthropic focus is fighting hunger. One in eight Americans and one in eight Canadians struggle with hunger. It's a cause that knows no bounds. It affects every race, age and community. Including the communities where we are placed. That is why we want to be a part of the solution. Through partnering with national and local organizations, we are able to make an impact on our communities.

We are proud partners of Feeding America and Meals on Wheels. Through these partnerships we're able to provide awareness on a national level while also partnering with local agencies where our collegiate chapters and alumnae chapters/clubs are located.

Our impact is enhanced through fundraising for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. They provide fighting hunger grants to various organizations that are doing their part in their local community to fight hunger.
