The Awakening

Every August 28th is the Feast Day of St. Augustine and the anniversary of King's March on Washington.  So, for the past 4 years, Peace & Justice have organized an event they call, The Awakening, to herald in a new year of awakening to the world around us to better serve it and ourselves. This year’s speaker will give a talk on Mass Incarceration. The event will be from 1-1:30 pm at the Oreo.

Multicultural Greek Week Kickoff

This it is an opportunity to get to know more about the people who comprise the Multicultural Greek Council and Multicultural Greek Organizations. The purpose is to celebrate the Multicultural Greek Community and diversity on campus while learning more about the individuals who comprise these organizations. The event will be from  8-9:30 pm in the Connelly Cinema.

Do the Resource Thing

A few offices and student clubs will be invited to table from 5:00pm to 6:30 pm at the Oreo. Offices such as Student Involvement, Campus Ministry, Career Center, Office of Education Abroad, CASA, Office of Intercultural Affairs, Office of Disabilities Services, and more will be able to share about programs and resources for students interested in expanding their cultural competencies. Clubs on campus such as BCS, MSU, Level, MGC Orgs, and more will have the opportunity to interact with their peers, and learn about one another through an intercultural bingo game. Music, games, water ice, and prizes will be available for all to enjoy. The event Night emphasizes cross-cultural communication and a celebration of diversity. Lastly, it introduces students to potential communities early on in their time at Villanova and show them all of the options, resources, and support networks that they can have while at the university.

MGC 101: Q&A Panel

A panel including staff who are affiliated with MGC Organizations. We will answer mostly moderated questions from the audience. We will include a couple MGC student leaders on the panel as well. The goal is to educate students about the heritage of Multicultural Greek Organizations and learn about the purpose of why and how they originated. The panel will also be presenting information about NPHC, NALFO, NAPA, MGC and independent organizations, plus relevant information related to Villanova’s Multicultural Greek Council. Lastly, graduate members will share what their experience has been like within their respective organization after having graduated.
