VU Pride is a group of students, faculty and staff working together to foster awareness and celebration of LGBTQ+ identities on campus. We are dedicated to respecting all human beings, building a community of care and compassion for every Villanovan. The tenet “Love one another as I have loved you” is a powerful dictate in the Christian Gospels, where Jesus calls each of us to love one another – regardless of creed, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, or ability. VU Pride – comprised of LGBTQ community members and allies - seeks to live this call every day through the community we support and the programs we offer.
VU Pride offers an array of programs and community builders through the year, primarily planned by students in VU Pride. Programs typically include an LGBTQ Awareness Week in the Fall and a Pride Week each Spring. In addition, VU Pride hosts a number of educational and social opportunities through the year for VU Pride members, open to all.
Join us for a featured Talk as part of LGBTQ Awareness Week:
Topic. Transgender and Gender Non-Binary Communities: Exploring Gender Identity & Inclusion
This presentation will explore gender identity and the misconceptions surrounding sexual orientation and gender identity within the LGBTQ community. This lecture will help participants gain perspective on what it means to create spaces for transgender and gender non-binary communities. Through exploring privilege, forms of resistance, and reflecting on personal experience, this presentation will help participants discern what it means to be an advocate and ally to diverse communities.
Guest Speaker. Alex Iannucci – an amazingly engaging speaker, dynamic and full of knowledge. You don’t want to miss this opportunity!
The It Gets Better Project's mission is to communicate to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth around the world that it gets better, and to create and inspire the changes needed to make it better for them.
