Avoiding Fad Diets
You’ve probably heard people say things like “I’m cutting out carbs” or “I’m on a no fat diet”, and while these may seem like easy ways to lose weight, it is not a long term option and will actually be no help to your body.
Carbohydrates- Carbs are an important source of energy for your body and cutting carbs from your diet may make you feel tired and weak.
Instead of slashing your carbs, try replacing simple carbohydrates, like refined grains and sugary foods, with complex carbohydrates from whole grain products, or raw fruits and veggies.
Fats- Fats are also a source of energy for your body, as well as providing structure, protection, and transportation for fat soluble vitamins.
Instead of removing fat completely, try to limit sources of saturated fats, such as fatty meats, butter, and processed snacks like chips and packaged cakes.
