News for Faculty and Researchers
Villanova University Selected to Join Oak Ridge Associated Universities
Villanova University was recently named an associate member of Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU), a consortium of more than 120 PhD-granting universities nationwide and in England.
Founded in 1946, ORAU partners with major universities, industry clients and the government to find innovative scientific and technical solutions to advance national priorities in science, education, security and health. ORAU has a special focus on science education and workforce development; scientific and peer review; environmental assets, worker and public health; partnership development; and professional training.
Federal agency partners include the U.S. Department of Energy, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
As an associate ORAU member, Villanova students and faculty will have exclusive access to scholarships, research grants, travel grants, science and technology events, high-performance computing and collaborative opportunities. Faculty and staff will have opportunities to work with national laboratories, federal agencies, educational and governmental entities, as well as participate in knowledge-strengthening competitions, and interactions with scientific leaders that will enhance faculty and students’ professional growth.
ORAU also manages the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), a world-leading U.S. Department of Energy institute that is dedicated to critical scientific, research, and health initiatives. ORISE is a top employer of scientists in the country, and provides internship, fellowship and research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates and faculty.
Amanda Grannas, PhD, Associate Vice Provost of Research, is Villanova’s councilor to ORAU.
