Dreyer's English Book Cover

Villanova students, faculty, and staff are invited to a reading by and enlightening conversation with Benjamin Dreyer, Vice President, Executive Managing Editor and Copy Chief, of Random House. Known for his sense of humor and appreciation for clear writing—along with his strong social media following—Dreyer has continued the legacy of his legendary publisher for nearly three decades.

The reading takes place on Wednesday, October 23 at 7 p.m. in the Connelly Cinema. This is an ACS approved event, sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the Writing Center.

A New York Times bestseller, Dreyer’s new book—Dreyer's English: An Utterly Correct Guide to Clarity and Style—is the culmination of his distinguished copy-editing career. Full of advice, insider wisdom, and fun facts, Dreyer’s English will prove invaluable to anyone who wants to polish their writing skills. And it’s mandatory for people who spend their time editing and shaping other people’s prose. Perhaps, best of all, this book is an utter treat for anyone who simply revels in language.

“Move over Strunk and White,” said Mary Beth Simmons, Director of the Writing Center. “Dreyer’s English is a page-turner for people who love language, precision, humor, and the importance of clarity. I couldn’t be more excited for Mr. Dreyer’s visit to campus!”
