Absolutely nothing. All of our services are free to all Villanova students.
The MLRC provides tutoring for most of the 1000 and 2000 level math courses offered by Villanova. Refer to the Courses sections for detailed information on courses for which we provide tutoring services.
Yes. The MLRC tutoring lab is still available for your use, when working on assignments and to meet in groups. You can also use the MLRC computer lab to use mathematical software such as Maple, Minitab, SAS, Excel, etc. If you are taking a math or statistics course offered by another department, we will do our best to help you - just ask. Finally, you may also luck out and get help with an advanced level course (such as Advanced Calculus or Modern Algebra) if one of our tutors is familiar with that subject.
Yes and no. The MLRC tutors will usually help you for 5-10 minutes and then move on to help someone else. They will return to you over and over, however, for as long as you need help. If you prefer to have an uninterupted tutoring session then you can sign up for a 20-minute private tutoring appointment. See below for more details.
No. It is not necessary to make an appointment to use the MLRC services. Most of our business is done on a walk-in basis. Come on in and begin to look over your assignments and a tutor will be around to help you.
Yes. Although it is not required, you may make an appointment for a private tutoring session. The appointments are for 30 minutes at one time. To sign up for an appointment just visit: www.villanova.mywconline.com.
The MLRC has some solutions manuals, but they are only for use by MLRC employees. These manuals are never loaned out to students.
You should always bring your text book, notes and any homework that you are working on. Bring your Villanova Wildcard with you too. You will need that to check in.
We scan your wildcard for attendance purposes. When we do this we are recording your name, and the current date and time. We then enter the number of the course that you are taking and your professor's name. This information is only used for statistical purposes. This way we know how many students are using our services, when demand is the greatest and the least, how frequently we tutor each math course and for which professors.
We do not supply professors with the names of students who use the MLRC unless they specifically request that information (some professors like to give extra credit when their students go to the math center).
We have 2 computer terminals. These computers are installed with mathematical software (Maple, Minitab, Excel).
