Student Leadership & Activities

student activities

Honors provides students with many opportunities to participate in leadership activities within the Honors Program. Students can begin participating in leadership as early as freshman year. Read about our different leadership opportunities below, and get involved!

Honors Ambassadors

Honors Ambassadors represent the Honors Program at recruiting events such as Candidates' Weekends, the Academic Majors Fair, and on individual prospective student visits. Learn more about becoming an Honors Ambassador.

Polis Literary Magazine

Polis Literary Magazine is the Honors Program's literary magazine, written and produced entirely by Honors students. Students can participate in Polis by joining the editorial board or by contributing to a magazine issue as a writer or artist. Learn more about joining the staff of Polis.

Peer Mentors

Peer Mentors guide other students, especially freshmen and sophomores, through the registration process. These mentors are a great resource to help peers decide on a major or a class to take, and help them plan their schedules for the following semester. Each mentor is given a group of mentees and meets with them regularly in the freshman year, and later as needed. Students must be rising sophomores to apply. While the Honors Program generally solicits applications toward the end of the spring semester.

Student Advisory Board

The Student Advisory Board (SAB) serves the Honors Director during 2-3 board meetings per year to suggest improvements to the Honors Program and to provide feedback on their experience in Honors and its various programs. Students in any college and year may serve on the SAB, and should send a résumé and letter of intent to the Director to be considered for membership.
