As University plans for Summer 2020 are released, the Center for Research and Fellowships will provide pertinent updates.
As a part of its efforts to support undergraduate research and scholarship, Villanova University reserves a limited number of dormitory rooms for summer on-campus housing for a limited number of undergraduate students engaged in full-time research under the mentorship of a faculty member. CRF-sponsored support for summer housing comes from the Office of the Provost, grants and contracts to faculty, and other sources. Given the diverse nature of requests for summer housing and demand for summer housing, CRF offers a limited amount of funding to support summer housing for undergraduate researchers. The CRF Summer Housing Award is intended for students who do not have a place to live near campus over the summer. VURF grantees are guaranteed on-campus summer housing.
The CRF Summer Housing Award
For 2020, the summer housing dates for undergraduate research students will be from May 26 through July 27; the program includes a meal plan of 10 meals per week. Students are responsible for all meals other than those associated with this program.
Eligibility and Expectations
To be considered for the CRF Summer Housing Award, an undergraduate student must be involved in independent study/research/scholarship and receiving a stipend to support their activity. The undergraduate student commits to working full-time on their research during the period of summer housing; the student may not have outside employment. The faculty mentor commits to providing an appropriate level of supervision throughout the summer. All recipients of the CRF Summer Housing Award are expected to present the results of their summer research at the Student Research Symposium, which will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020. Summer housing is not intended for part-time or full-time employees hired to support faculty research/scholarship activities.
Students must first apply through CRF in order to be considered for the CRF Summer Housing Award, and then, if awarded CRF funding, apply for housing through Residence Life.
